“When the time comes, do not look back,” Agron had warned Nasir, back when they were examining their escape tunnel, during the early days of their stay at the temple. “Move quickly and confidently, and set example for your friends from the villa. If you stop, everyone else stops with you, and last in line could get sword in back. If you run, others may follow suit, and someone may get trampled. I trust you to get others to safety while I cover rear.”
And who will cover you? Nasir had wanted to ask but didn’t. He wanted Agron to be able to rely on him. Agron was the warrior, and though Nasir knew a hundred times more about fighting than he once had, Argon was still far superior in that regard. It made sense for Agron to defend the rear. That didn’t mean Nasir had to like it. Still, he suspected that if he remained, he would prove a distraction to Agron, who would doubtless feel the need to defend Nasir’s flank along with his own. And Nasir did want to make sure his friends made it out safely. So even after they reached the outside, where they were almost caught by the Romans and Spartacus ordered them to retreat, Nasir didn’t seek out his beloved, but rather made his way up the mountain with bold and unrushed strides, torch in hand, silently encouraging those behind him by making forward motions with the light. It took everything he had to not look back and make sure Agron was following. All he could do was pray to the gods with every step that he and Agron would be reunited at the mountain’s peak ….

hnio:
Even if we did not get romantic or hot Nagron scenes in focus in the last episode but we could see many Nagron moments in the background or the foreground showing that they belong together.
Let us see these moments below.
Agron defending „his boy”.
And you blame Nasir you lazy…
Thank you so much for capping these, especially these:

and extra-especially this, which I had wondered if anyone else had noticed:
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it really adorable when they touch foreheads? Like in the making-out scene in the hallyway in ep 8, there were sooo many points where their foreheads met, and I think that made me all warm and fuzzy just as much as the lip-bite or the o-face! In fact, if I recall correctly, one of the “forehead-meetings” *involved* the o-face, with him coming to rest his head against Nasir’s as he was “coming down”. Too adorable! XD

Notes: The lead-up to and aftermath of the infamous “hallway scene” of ep 8, “Balance”. Sequel to my fics “Across a Crowded Temple” and “Wild Dogs”, but could be read without reading them first.
DISCLAIMER: Two lines in the fic are from “Balance”: Agron’s “Time passes too slowly” and Nasir’s “We must be quick then.” Agron, Nasir, Naevia, Mira, Lugo, and the depiction of Spartacus and Crixus, as in the Spartacus series, all © Starz. Nasir fought not to run through the temple as he looked for Agron, buoyed through the halls by the news he couldn’t wait to share. He found Agron outside the room where the Roman woman was being kept; Spartacus was patting the man on the shoulder.
“Thank you, my friend,” Spartacus was saying.
Agron nodded, then noticed Nasir, his face splitting into a grin that lit the hall. Nasir felt himself reciprocate, his lips moving of their own accord — not that he disagreed with their action, but it still surprised him (in a good way) that his body reacted so strongly to Agron of its own accord. It was responding in other ways, too, for that matter ….
Agron kissed him, chaste but affectionate. Nasir bit back a growl of frustration — he wanted more, and he’d wanted it now. Hadn’t they waited long enough?
See, that’s just it. *I* still see Nasir.
I saw him welcoming the newcomers and getting to know them, and getting lifted into a bear-hug by Lugo. I saw him offering moral support to Mira and Naevia. I saw him grieving Chadara. I saw him fighting the Germans after Sedullus stirred things up. Part of the brilliance of the series is that there is sooooooo much going on in the backgrounds of the scenes, so much more story happening than just the dialogue. Even when the characters are in the foreground, there’s often some beautiful, unspoken stuff happening. If he’s arguably been a bit underused of late, well, he got a lot of screentime after first being introduced — they can’t all get big, juicy parts every ep. I’m sure he’ll get more again.
But Agron’s a slightly more important character, so if Agron’s gotten more scenes without Nasir than Nasir’s gotten without Agron, or if Nasir’s been used to shore up Agron a bit — offer support and help Agron grow as a person — that makes sense. Nasir is supporting cast, Agron is main. But there’s a difference between JUST shoring up another character, and doing so *and* also developing one’s own at the same time. Aside from all the stuff I mentioned, we’ve seen Nasir go from shy to bold — like when he got a bit drunk and tried to hit on Agron (with that suggestive little eyebrow raise when he was holding the wineskin). He noted when Agron went through the crowd to try to bury the hatchet with Crixus — we saw his little smile as he realised what Argon was doing. And Agron would never have done it if not for Nasir, so I really don’t get the idea someone else posed that he’s useless now. It may be subtle, but he’s had great influence on Agron simply because of who he is, and that’s not nothing. And I’m sure he’ll have influence on others besides Agron. The romance is *part* of his character, but I hope I’ve shown that there *is* indeed more to him.
Anyway, I think it says a lot that it took them so long to get to this point in their relationship — I have a hard time connecting to Mira/Spartacus because their relationship seemed to me to have been based on sex *first* rather than, as with Nagron, a deep bond that has now taken on more physical intimacy. (I’m not against Mira/Sparty, I like them, but when Nasir suggested Sparty loves Mira, I was all “are you sure?”)
And my love for Nagron is not just because they are a slash couple: *I’m* bi-poly. Whether it’s boyxboy, boyxgirl, or girlxgirl, or any variation of genders, or even androgyness, at the end of the day, what I want to see is *love*. That’s what I see in Nagron — and have a very hard time seeing in real life. And just because I see and treasure it doesn’t mean I or any other Nagron fanatic are oblivious to any other aspect of the characters or the show.
If it’s madness to celebrate love and find such joy in it (I suffer from depression a lot, and little has made me as happy of late as Nagron), then I guess I am mad!
If there’s not enough non-nagron in the Spartacus tag for your liking (and I don’t mean specifically nayaritism — I very much appreciate that you’ve taken the time to explore other’s feelings,; this is more in reply to another post I saw), consider adding more non-nagron content *yourself* instead of suggesting others should stop posting what they enjoy or assuming that just because you don;t see value, others shouldn’t either or that it’s not there to be found. :)

Excellent points! I loved this! And I know for me, I’ve never been Anti-Nagron, just more Anti the madness of it all. But I guess that IS because I’ve been there through the Barca and Pietros relationship, that DIDN’T get this kind of love, and that relationship broke me. So it’s interesting to have another side of the opinion with this with fresh eyes, not still holding on to Barca and Pietros. And my only REAL gripe with this is for the love of gosh can we bring Nasir THE CHARACTER back, not just the romance.
First, an important bit of context:
For all the love the Nagron pairing gets, their moments take up less than 2 minutes of what is an hour-long show. We’ve taken longer (and more explicit) trips to the whorehouse in every episode than what we’ve gotten out of Nagron - and their pairing makes up…

PREVIEW:
Nasir didn’t want to say goodbye, so he didn’t. He didn’t tell Agron to return to him, either — anything even remotely suggesting that there might not be a reunion between them felt like it would be tempting the Fates’ crueler sides. But just in case, he had taken the ghost of Chadara’s advice, making the most of every moment in the two-week wait before Agron’s mission to Neapolis, not taking a single second for granted. If the Fates proved unkind, he would have no regrets.
Well, save for that his wound had, by both Agron’s insistence and that of the Medicus, prohibited anything more intimate than a kiss or a caress; the Medicus had only just released him from sleeping under her watch! But that wound had reunited another pair of lovers, and Nasir would not regret that. He only hoped that the Fates would bear that in mind ….
So he hugged his beloved, and kissed him, trailing fingers and eyes across Agron’s skin and committing everything about the man to memory.
It seemed Agron was trying to do the same.
“I will miss scent of you nearly as much as feel and sight,” Agron complained, burying his nose in the crook of Nasir’s neck and breathing deeply.
“And I, yours,” Nasir agreed, breathing in as well.
“I have notion!” Agron suddenly announced, pulling away. Nasir lamented the absence for all of half a second, until Agron then ordered, “Take off vest.”
Nasir obeyed, half afraid that his heart was about to burst as he did so. Were they going to throw caution to the wind, and risk the ire of the Medicus? Nasir did feel better ….
DISCLAIMER: One line in the fic is from “Sacramentum”: Nasir’s “Your people, they lift spirits!” Agron, Nasir, Chadara, Naevia, Mira, Lugo, Sedullus, and the depiction of Spartacus, Oenomaus, and Crixus, as in the Spartacus series, all © Starz. Further evidence of the clothing exchange. Nasir is wearing Agron’s wristband.
I guess Agron put a ring on it after all.
Except that Agron still has his, under his bracer, as you can see in syhant’s gif, red cloth peaking out by his hand, and, if you look reaaal close, under the area where the sides of the bracer tie together:
http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0ovw9Dn6B1rru28vo2_250.gif
Maybe Agron tore his up a bit and split it with Nasir, but there doesn’t seem to have been enough material for it to still be so long on either of them. So it’s probably just the same type of cloth, rather than made from Agron’s. Still, I imagine Nasir got the *idea* for his wrist-covering from Agron, in any case — or Agron made a new one for him. :)
It’s one of those little things, but can we talk about how Agron and Nasir apparently switched clothes before Agron went away to free his kinsmen in Neapolis? Nasir is wearing Agron’s sleeveless coat and it’s way too long for him (but he still trains in it) and in turn Agron has Nasir’s vest on under all those layers.
They switched letterman jackets, people.Officially the high school couple of this show.
Later in the episode Nasir has his vest back.
Oh, I totally have a plot bunny to include in my next fic now, thank you! I’m betting they traded so they could keep the scents of one another near while they were apart. So adorable, especially how Argon’s tunic is like a longcoat on Nasir! I think it makes him look bad-ass! <3

PREVIEW:
Nasir knew the warmth at his back was not simply the sun — even if he hadn’t just been talking to Agron when Spartacus had begun his speech, he would have known where Agron was. So long as they were in the same are, within sight of each other, Nasir had discovered that he simply knew where Argon was, could feel his presence as palpably as the light of Apollo’s Chariot, at any given moment. And so, when the heat at his back suddenly vanished, he noticed. Further, he knew exactly where it — where Agron — went. Without any effort to look, Nasir’s eyes were drawn to Agron as the man made his way to the side of Crixus. He smiled fondly, guessing what the big German was intending to do.
And then something went wrong.

(Yes, I posted this before. Tumblr wouldn’t let me enter a proper description last time, and I think it got lost in the shuffle. And someone was asking for more Nagron fic, so let’s try this again, shall we? Even if it’s outdated now and a bunch of other people have also tackled the subject. XD ….)

PREVIEW:
Nasir supposed it was best he hadn’t gone with Spartacus this time. The drink Naevia had given him to dull the pain of his wound had long since worn off, and every second now was agony. Welcome agony, as it largely clouded all thought, including his worry for Agron, but agony all the same; he would have been useless on the mission. They would have had to carry him home again!
For a fleeting moment, he imagined Agron carrying him, strong arms under him and a chest firm as a stone wall against his side. He felt the heat rise in his cheeks, just as Chadara had once noted as his reaction to mention of the former gladiator. Then a most unwelcome thought snuck in: that perhaps Agron wouldn’t have survived to carry him anyway — wouldn’t survive in any case, whether Nasir was there to be a burden or not.
He thanked the pain again as another wave of it distracted him from his fear.
“He’ll be fine,” Chadara assured him, apparently playing oracle as she sat beside him against a column. “You survived past skirmish, and you — forgive me — are not half the warrior your Agron is.”
He couldn’t bring himself to point out that several men who were great warriors had fallen on the last mission. “My Agron?” he asked himself as much as her, wondering if she just meant it in that he was closer to Agron than she was, or if she was implying something more by it. Could Agron really be considered his? If she’d said that a day ago, he might not have believed it, but after that kiss ….
Chadara snorted, a habit she couldn’t blame on the influence of her uncouth Gaul even if she tried — Nasir had known her too long. “I saw you together, just before he left,” she informed him. “Rhaskos never looks at me in such way.” She tossed a pebble, smirking ruefully, and suddenly it occurred to Nasir that she might be worried for Rhaskos …. “Spartacus never looks at Mira so, either,” she continued. “When Agron sets eyes upon on you, there is more than simple friendship in them — and more than lust. There is tenderness in his touch. Do not doubt — you own him, my friend.” Her smirk did not hide her wistfulness.
Nasir’s head was reeling, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of his wound or his thoughts. He had been “owned” himself, in the context of being used for the pleasure of another, and had feared that Spartacus had intended to simply become the next rein-holder. Nasir was happy to be proven wrong about Spartacus, but while Chadara claimed that being with Rhaskos was her choice, not forced upon her, Nasir couldn’t seem to help but see the Gaul as being little better than their old master.
And then Chadara had to go and point out Nasir’s growing friendship with Agron, and Nasir’s attraction to him — and the possibility that Agron was attracted back. Nasir had been left wondering if it were true, and, if it was, if Agron just wanted his body, the way his former master had or the way Rhaskos wanted Chadara. Then he wondered if it mattered. He could think of worse fates than being Agron’s bed-warmer — and not really any better. In fact, were Nasir to, by some miracle, come into power equal enough to have an army at his own beck and call, and not need the protection or status associating with Agron would give him, as Chadara sought from Rhaskos, he still would want Agron in his bed — and at his side, as his friend.
Or as more? Could Agron truly … love him? Not just want him as a lover?
Okay, ppl, there are two things I have yet to see giffed from Spartacus: Vengeance ep 6 but would love to (I’d do it myself, but my converter died, so I can’t transfer TV to PC anymore ;_;.) The framing in this episode is inspired, with all the little background details!
1) The scene where Spartacus is giving the pep talk. There’s a moment when the camera cuts from Crixus, who has turned to look at Naevia, to a shot of Nasir, Naevia, and Agron. Agron is looking towards Crixus, then looks at the back of Nasir, then looks thoughtful — clearly he’s deciding then that he should go make peace with Crixus because he realises that he would do the same for Nasir as what Crixus was willing to do for Naevia. I’ve seen lots of lovely gifs of when Nasir looks towards Agron, as Agron stands next to Crixus, and smiles, realising what Agron is trying to do, but none of that beautiful little moment when Agron makes the decision to do that in the first place.
2) When Gannicus is talking to Crixus, you can see Nasir and Agron in the background, yards apart — Nasir is against a wall on one side, and Agron talks to Spartacus on the other. Before Naevia comes along to tend his wound, it seems to me that Nasir is just kinda watching Agron from afar.
Many thanks to everyone who has captured the kissing scenes! And I’ve found myself nodding my head so much at all the expressed-Nagron-love-obsession posts, I fear my head may fall off! XD
